Nibbled to Death by Extinguishing Small Fires (And Other Mixed Metaphors of the Workplace)

My case of the Mondays just keeps right on rolling... I've spent the whole week putting out small fires on projects that were supposed to be long put to bed and/or that I wasn't supposed to be spending any time on. How did an official allocation of zero percent of my time suddenly become 100% of it? How am I supposed to make any forward progress on what are ostensibly our current high priorities when I am incessantly nibbled to death by metaphorical ducks?

Grr! Argh!

Now, where'd my stapler go?
