304/365: Over Troubled Water

I never expected to experience much in the way of hurricanes while living in Ohio, but Sandy apparently likes surprises. While we didn't get anything as bad as the situations in New York and New Jersey, we still had to contend with powerful, sustained winds, and torrential rain. We were lucky enough to keep our electricity--albeit unsteadily--throughout the night, and neither our house nor our trees sustained any injury of note. Our neighbors didn't fare quite as well, unfortunately--I counted at least four big evergreens down at homes across the street and down a few houses, and our next-door neighbors lost a big limb. And way at the back of our property, the little creek that is usually lucky if it has more than a trickle going through it had become a raging, quickly flowing little river, evidence of the amount of rain that had been visited upon us.
