Work is stress-tastic, but the evening has been pretty good.
Liz and I made fabulously tasty dinner (a rubbed flank steak with spiced cauliflower and leftover cornbread). We watched a little bit of the "Lilo & Stitch" show, and last night's "Daily Show" (it's always good when Bob Dole is on!).
I'm finally getting around to writing some code for what will eventually be my CD, DVD, and wine collection management websites. I've decided to postpone the pain of dealing with the reverse-proxy voodoo that was giving me a hard time and just develop the various objects that will define the inner structure of the application(s), without worrying about the web interface yet.
Yesterday I wrote a simple little wrapper for the Python MySQL module, since I wanted more goodies than I would have otherwise had access to. Tonight I whipped up a base class for the various data objects to be children of, and wrote (and tested!) the first data object for the wine site.
I like the direction I'm going in, and I should be able to crank out more of the data objects pretty quickly now that I have a basis for what I'm doing. The next step after that is writing the application logic that will orchestrate the little data objects into a cohesive whole. And then I can start worrying about presentation, web interface, etc. etc. I also need to decide on an authentication scheme, but I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.
